HTTPS : Greater Level of Security

What are the impacts associated to a HTTPS migration?
1. SEO:
The URLs will be modified when switching to HTTPS. In the short term, this change can slightly decrease your SEO results. However, in the long term your SEO should improve because Google uses HTTPS as a ranking signal. More details from Google here
2. HTML5 Geolocation:
Switching to HTTPS allows you to run the HTML5 geolocation on the latest browser versions of Chrome and Safari.S.
3. BRIDGE Template:
The BRIDGE team will ensure that your template is ready to switch to HTTPS. Specifically, we need prevent the creation of "mixed-content"
This can be achieved through the following steps:
- Remove all calls to HTTP resources
- Check that all external loaded resources are available in HTTPS
Note: If your Store Locator has a dynamic header/footer, you will also have to ensure that the url feed and all assets entrusted by the feed are in HTTPS.
4. Store Locator access:
BRIDGE uses SNI certificates and hosts multiple SSL certificates on a single machine.
Note: Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 on XP does not support SNI certificates. You can find the complete list of compatible browsers here
How to proceed if you want to switch to HTTPS ?
1. Use your HTTPS certificate
Provide BRIDGE with your SSL certificate so it can set it up on the BRIDGE servers. Please share the following:
- fichier.key (RSA PRIVATE KEY)
- fichier.crt (CERTIFICATE)
- certificate password
Note: Not all the certificates have the same properties therefore some certificates will not be recognized by the system. A warning message will appear if the certificate is unrecognized.
2. Contact BRIDGE to activate Let's Encrypt
BRIDGE uses Let's Encrypt to activate HTTPS, which requires no effort on your end. Once you are ready to enable Let’s Encrypt contact us and we will take care of the rest.
Note: Additional service charges are incurred for the implementation of HTTPS, as this maintenance is does not fall within the BRIDGE licensing.
